Each month our students get to explore the artistic expression of dance. We are fortunate to have Ms. Ashley, from Dance Factory, working with our school through a dance residency. This program will continue throughout the year, culminating in May with a show for the community. Students are learning how to tell stories through movement, collaborate in groups, and develop choreography.

Thank you all for participating in the Slate Valley food drive benefiting Fair Haven Concerned! After three weeks of collecting, the numbers are in, and the food delivered. As a district we donated 1158.5 lbs. of non perishable and household items to the local food shelf. Listed below are the winning classrooms in each school for largest donation. OVS = Ms. Valley FHGS = Ms. Morgello CES = Ms. Russell/ Ms. Molis Middle school = Mr. Clark The winning classrooms will choose if they would like a pizza or ice cream party sometime in March. While it was a tight race, the school with the most pounds donated and winner of the district wide prize is Castelton Elementary coming in at 590.1 lbs. CES will be joined by Miss Lucy Neel from Holland, VT for a day of learning centered around Vermont Native American history and culture. Lucy is a member of the VT Nulhegan Abenaki tribe.

Earlier this week, some students enjoyed eating lunch with superintendent Brooke Olsen-Farrell. During this time, they also gave a presentation exhibiting the benefits of going outside for recess even when it is below 10 degrees! It was quite the compelling study, backed by research and data. A fine example of student advocacy and leadership. Good job!

Department of Public Safety
This morning, February 8th, we were under a Hold in Place (Secure the Building) at Fair Haven Union Middle/High School for approximately 15 minutes as a precautionary measure due to a concerning call made to the Fair Haven Police Department. Hoax calls like this have been coming into schools across the state and country recently. While there hasn’t been any credibility to these hoax calls, we wanted to make sure we were taking the proper precautions as student/staff safety is our number one priority. Again, there is no immediate threat to Fair Haven Union Middle/High School. Law enforcement led our response, and at this time we have released the Hold in Place.
