Kristi , a sophomore at FHUHS, had the opportunity to take an elective class this Spring called R.E.A.L.. The class allows students to dig deep into issues or problems they are concerned about within their local, state, or global community. Kristi chose to learn more about Veterans and the concerns they face when returning home from duty for their country. In her inquiry, she learned about The Dodge House in Rutland, which provides transitional housing for Veterans. The entire class met virtually with Christina Morgan - Executive Director of the Veterans Assistance Office, locally known as The Dodge House in Rutland, to discuss the needs of Veterans in our area. Kristi then held a fundraiser within the Slate Valley School District to help meet those specific needs. She collected a variety of items, such as pajamas, canned food and paper goods, as well as various toiletry items, which she and Margaret Hayward delivered on Thursday, May 27, 2021.
