Monday, October 24th marks the beginning of Red Ribbon Spirit Week at FHGS!

Dear Slate Valley Community, Thank you for your participation in our recent ThoughtExchange on school budget priorities. We had over 400 participants with 125 thoughts shared and over 5,000 ratings for those thoughts. On Monday night, the top thoughts were shared with the school board. They were as follows: Continuation of free breakfast and lunch in our schools. Enrichment opportunities for students. Further addressing student behaviors throughout the system. Addition of a wood and metal shop 7-12. Staff retention. The board and administration plan on taking all of this feedback into consideration as we build our FY24 budget this fall. - Brooke Olsen-Farrell

FHGS Kindergartners are studying about what makes up a community. As part of this lesson, students from Ms. Grenier’s and Mrs. Robert’s classes walked over to their town police station and received a special tour from Chief Humphries, Sargeant Kerber and Officer Gutel. Highlights of the visit included experiencing being behind bars in the holding cell, watching Chief Humphries demonstrate how to take digital fingerprints and sitting inside a police car making the lights flash. After the tour, students, teachers and officers all enjoyed a picnic lunch together in the beautiful town park. A special thank you to Chief Humphries, Sargeant Kerber, and Officer Gutel for taking time out of their busy schedules to make this day so wonderful and for their daily commitment to the community we love!
