If you see any of these wonderful people, please thank them for their dedication in helping our students! Slate Valley is fortunate to have this dynamic team in our district!
#NationalSchoolCounselorAppreciationWeek February 6th - 10th

The FHGS First Grade Team would like to thank all who came out to celebrate our Vermont Geography Unit. Students were extremely excited to share their completed salt dough maps.

A group of Fair Haven Grade School sixth graders have a lot to be proud of. They developed the first Lego League Robotics Club in our Slate Valley School District! Team Falcons’ members are John C., Anaya P., Charles D., Joey R., and John T. They are directed by Head Coach JoAnna Surething and Michelle Larose-Mangan. The group met weekly since the beginning of the school year in September, right up to the day of competition on January 28th. This group pioneered into the competition and did an amazing job! Not only did they build and program their bot to perform certain tasks, they also gave a wonderful presentation on their innovative project and learning. The Falcons traveled to Norwich University for the competition. They scored 12th out of 26 teams that participated from around the state. Proudly the team demonstrated the SOAR (Safety, Ownership, Acceptance, and Respect) values of their school. We, not only at Fair Haven Grade School, but across the entire Slate Valley School District are so incredibly proud of this group’s achievements. Congratulations Falcons, we can’t wait to see what you do carrying this enthusiasm with you next year entering middle school. Go to this link to see a slide show: https://youtu.be/0TMSZ3bCPVk

Congratulations to Cynthia Hutchins, Deb Williams and the entire cast and crew of The Enchanted Bookshop! Two wonderful productions! It takes courage to perform on stage. We recognize that courage and commend you all for your performance! Bravo!

After listening to books by the Author Chris Van Dusan, 1st grade students designed their own custom bedrooms with creative touches such as hot tubs, pools, slides, and a stage.

As the Kindergarten and 1st grade students complete round 2 of paper bridge making, we decided to increase the weight the bridges attempted to hold. The paper bridges were able to hold the weight of some students, over 50 lbs! Wow, now that's engineering!

First Grade students enjoyed a wonderful visit from parent-volunteer, Mr. Helton. Mr. Helton shared how reading, writing, and math help him complete tasks working in the computer coding field. Thanks so much, Mr. Helton!

As part of their ongoing Geography Unit, first grade students have been working to construct salt dough maps of Vermont. Students utilized their new learning to add features such as the Green Mountain Range and Lake Champlain. They look forward to sharing their completed work!

Our drama production is SOLD OUT for both nights! How exciting!!
