This weekend, Band Director, Samantha Adams and eight of our talented Slaters represented us at the North East Instrumental Music Festival in Lake George, NY. After rigorous auditions and countless hours of daily rehearsals, the festival concluded with an exceptional concert on Sunday, November 24th. We’re proud to share that many of our students earned top placements, ranking in the top two for their instruments during auditions! As an instructional assistant at Castleton Elementary School, Linda has earned this prestigious recognition for her steadfast dedication to supporting students and her outstanding advocacy for her fellow union members. Congratulations, Linda! As Vermont-NEA President Don Tinney put it in his award notification letter, “Your constant and passionate advocacy for better wages and working conditions within your district is remarkable. All while volunteering in multiple capacities in your school and community and providing compassionate support to the learners you encounter each day. Your unwavering advocacy for ESPs and passion for organizing and professional development are making a significant impact in elevating and highlighting the amazing work of ESPs in Vermont.”

There are normally 18-20 combined home events between girls' and boys' basketball, allowing for modest savings over the season. Game Day prices are $3 for adults, and $2 for students and senior citizens. From Slate Valley's Athletic Director: "The Winter Sports season will begin the week of December 2nd. Please be sure to register your child on Form ReLeaf, and make sure they have an updated physical (within 2 years) on file with your child's school nurse. Game schedules will be available soon. Adjustments are still being made at all levels, so rather than posting something that will be changed, we will do so as they get locked in." *Sports for the high school (grades 9-12) will start on Monday Dec.2. (Weekly schedule will be posted to the Athletics webpage) *Basketball for middle school teams will begin on Dec 3. Practices will be held at Fair Haven Grade School. What an incredible fall season for Slater Nation! Just days after our Slaters brought home the 2024 Division 2 State Football Championship, the accolades keep pouring in. The Rutland Herald has named three of our outstanding student-athletes as Player of the Year in their respective sports!
