Athletics play an important part of life at Slate Valley. A tradition of excellence going back many years. The community prides itself in offering much support to all grade 5 through 12 athletes, and continues to produce competitive, growing teams. Our athletics are broken down into three categories, grades 5 & 6 sports, Middle School sports(grades 7 & 8) and High School sports (grades 9-12).

Liam Robinson Achieves 100 Wins!
Slater wrestler Liam Robinson achieved a remarkable milestone on Saturday, January 25th, at the Mt. Greylock Invitational, becoming the 22nd Slater to secure 100 career wins! Congratulations to Liam and his family on this outstanding accomplishment—an incredible testament to hard work, dedication, and skill.

The rosters for Vermont’s 2025 Lions Cup Twin State Soccer Games have been announced, highlighting the top recently graduated high school players from both Vermont and New Hampshire. These annual all-star matchups showcase the best talent from each state, and the competition is always a thrilling event.
Congratulations to Slaters standouts Maddy Perry and Jace Hetrick for being selected to represent Vermont in these prestigious games.
Slaters Head Coach Teri Perry will also be involved as an assistant coach for the girls' team.
The date and location for the Lions Cup games are yet to be confirmed.

Slater Duals Renamed to Shaddock Duals
Slaters Wrestling hosted their annual Slater Duals event on December 31st, welcoming top-tier competition from Vermont and New York for an outstanding day of matches. This year’s event featured a special tribute to long-time head coach Scott Shaddock, celebrating his over 30 years of dedication to the Slater wrestling community.
During the event, it was announced that Coach Shaddock had been named the 2023-24 Vermont Coach of the Year by both the Vermont Principals' Association and the National Federation of High Schools. In honor of his remarkable contributions to the program and his enduring love for the sport, Slater Athletics also revealed that this annual event will now be known as the Shaddock Duals.
Adding to the day’s highlights, Slater sophomore wrestler Anthony Szabo was recognized as the inaugural Shaddock Duals Most Outstanding Wrestler, finishing the day with an impressive 5-0 record on the mats.
Congratulations to Coach Shaddock and Anthony Szabo! Your achievements and recognition made this a truly memorable day for Slater Nation.

Congratulations to Rowan Kuehn and Caden Lynch: VT D2 State Throwing Champions!
Congratulations to our indoor track and field seniors, Caden Lynch and Rowan Kuehn, for their outstanding performances at Saturday's Vermont Division II State Throwing Championships in St. Johnsbury! Caden captured the Division II boys’ weight throw title with an impressive throw of 13.44 meters. Fellow Slaters Brady Niklasson earned third place with a throw of 12.85 meters, while Alex Messer secured seventh. Rowan claimed the Division II girls’ weight throw championship with a remarkable toss of 10.42 meters. Teammates Amelia Munger and Morgan Oakman also delivered strong performances, finishing third (8.82 meters) and seventh, respectively. Congratulations to Caden and Rowan for their exceptional achievements and for earning their well-deserved spots on the Slater Wall of Champions!
Senior Gabe Bache Achieves 100 Wins!
Congratulations to Slater senior Gabe Bache for etching his name into the record books as the 21st Slater wrestler to achieve the remarkable milestone of 100 career wins! This hard-earned accomplishment is a testament to Gabe's dedication, skill, and perseverance. A big congratulations to Gabe and his family on this outstanding achievement!
State Champions Honored at Fenway
Our 2024 Vermont State Champion Football Team was honored at Fenway Park during the Wasabi Fenway Bowl on Saturday, December 28th! Fans also witnessed UConn's 27-14 victory over the University of North Carolina.
4 Slaters Named POYs!
What an incredible fall season for Slater Nation! Just days after our Slaters brought home the 2024 Division 2 State Football Championship, the accolades keep pouring in. The Rutland Herald has named four of our outstanding student-athletes as Player of the Year in their respective sports!
Congratulations to Maddy Perry and Leigha Kretzer for sharing the honor in Girls' Soccer, Jack Spaulding in Boy's Soccer and to Max Kyhill for his well-deserved recognition in Football.
